Love Mural

Ruse Railway Station

Acrylic paint on wall.

Mural produced on the outside of the main railway station in Ruse, Bulgaria. Ruse is a city on the river Danube with a dense array of historic architecture. The city itself takes immense pride in highlighting its architectural wonders.

When tasked with producing a mural for the city’s brutalist railway station, Sabina engaged in a collaborative discussion as to what the murals could be. Then it was decided jointly, to craft geometric murals that speak to the city’s architecture as well as highlight the unique nature of the building to which Sabina’s mural is directly apply to and part of.

Sabina worked from sketches she had made which represent the uniqueness of the city, its dynamics, the flow of the river, and the grandness of the building itself.

Hello

A few locations

Graphite on paper pasted on walls.

Mural produced on the outside of a few buildings in the UK.
The initial inspiration was a bench placed rather ridiculously facing a wall, close enough to have an intimate conversation with the person opposite on an imaginary bench.

The person is perhaps travelling, perhaps homeless and vulnerable. But they are facing us, deep in thought, or maybe ready for a conversation?

The artwork was drawn in life scale in pencil and then reproduced to be placed in various locations.

Why Sofia

Sofia Raffy

Acrylic paint on glass.

Mural produced on the outside of a storage space for a cafe in Sofia, Bulgaria, on one of the liveliest streets in the city full of cafes and bars.

When tasked with producing a mural for the shop front, Sabina engaged in collaboration with the staff and customers of the cafe to come up with a fun engaging design.  Eventually, the design spells out one question a lot of the people involved in the process asked - why do this? Why beautify? What is the point? But mostly WHY. This is a question central to Sabina’s artwork too, and the design reads the words Why Is in Bulgarian.

Sabina worked from sketches she had made during the process, with a special sanded base for the glass surface and acrylic on top.

Montfort House Mural

London Victoria

Acrylic spray paint on boards.

Mural produced on the outside in the courtyard of Montfort House homeless hostel, part of the Passage charity in Victoria, London.

Together with residents, staff, and volunteers, Sabina engaged in a collaborative discussion as to what the murals could look like and represent.

Residents worked together to allocate boards, worked from sketches, engaged in picking the spray paints, and overall took a very active part in beautifying those boards they looked at every day from their accommodation.
